[Linux] Game crash on 95% loading a New Game

After the latest patch (1.10) I'm unable to create a new game. The game crashes to desktop reliably on 95%. The terminal output while trying to start a new game is:

I can provide any further information needed. Just let me know what you need!

PS: I've played the update on my other PC (also Solus, but with Nvidia graphics), so I'm guessing this has to do with the Mesa drivers. It's looking mighty fine, and it's almost hard to believe how far this game has come since I started playing it all those years ago!

    Hey Stenpett,

Unfortunately, we can only support Ubuntu LTS. There are so many different Linux distros, we don't have the manpower to support all of them. I'm aware you've played in the past on that machine though. I'll see if anyone in the studio has a lead on the cause of this, but I can't promise anything unfortunately.

This thread MIGHT be useful; http://forums.castlestory.net/discussion/comment/3579
  • Thank you for the response and suggestion, but it didn't help.

Running the game from the command line, gave me this output (the game ran fine until the last line, which occurred when reaching 95% when loading a level) :

    Hi Stenpett,

Thank you - I'll forward this to the devs, but like I said, unfortunately, I can't guarantee a resolution on our side. I'm very sorry.

I'll let you know if anyone in the studio has a lead.
  • On a whim, I deiced to try loading up one of the smallest maps (Troubled Heaps, I believe it was), and this loaded fine. This is a new laptop, and it has an integrated GPU (RX Vega 8) with shared memory, locked at 1 GB dedicated to graphics, with 7 remaining for the rest of the system. Could this be a part of the problem? Simply running out of graphics memory?

    Hey Stenpett,

It could - yes, however the GPU isn't usually what's affected by the size of the maps.

Can you tell me the system's full specs? Once again, no promises - but we could at least see if we have a lead.

    Hey Stenpett,

Yeah, I suspect the distro. Also, while your specs seem to meet the minimum requirements, a GPU built into a CPU can't be ideal for gaming, I wouldn't be shocked if that turned out to be the cause too.

Sorry I can't be of much help.
