Stockpiles and Worker Priorites

So in my latest game of Conquest, building farther away from my home crystal became a bit more difficult as I continued to branch out. I'll go through the basic rundown of how it went. I'd start off with a wall, construct stockpiles near it, along with a quarry for faster gathering of stone/brimstone/iron materials. The problem I was having involved the miners. They would mine a bag of 20 stone, bring it up to the surface, pass the stockpiles I had in place for them, and continue all the way along to my original stockpiles 200 blocks away.
In my efforts to solve this issue I tried setting all of the stockpiles to no longer accept stone. However, the bricktrons would continue to bring the bags of stone to my home crystal stockpiles and just drop it all there (complaining that there was no available storage space), eventually burring my crystal, which I then had to landscape.
So the main issue here is; workers ignoring close, available stockpiles, opting to go further away to deposit materials, and workers dropping all of the materials they've gathered, instead of finding another stockpile in a different area or location.
Thank you.
