"Couldn't switch to requested monitor resolution"

Game starts fine in fullscreen mode AND windowed mode in both 1280 x 720 and 1920x 1080 but when I go to start a new game and generate the map it gets to the loading bar (doesn't load) and just pops up this error. Please help me fix this so I can play! (No I have no played recently and yes all my drivers are up to date).

    Hey Chris,

    Sorry about that. Since you haven't played in a while, I'm suspecting some of the game's files are corrupted/outdated. Sometimes, updating the game on Steam doesn't fully update all the required files, or worse, it doesn't remove some old unneeded files.

    The easiest solution to fix this would likely be the steps on this article (link).

    Give that a try and let me know if it helps any.
