Can't launch map in 0.6.1 - Possible fix

Hi everyone!

Some of you reported to us that you were unable to launch a map in version 0.6.1

Until this issue is resolved we offer a workaround.

Go in the Castle Story directory at the following address: "Castlestory \ Info \ UserSettings"
and delete the file called "current.json".

You should be able afterwards to load maps without any problem.

See you around,

Ben

  • This did not work for me
  • Hi mjames,

Your issue is maybe related to something else, which we can investigate together. It was a quick note for that particular issue in version 0.6.1.

Plus, we are now at version 0.6.4. What version do you have ? What is your issue exactly?

    Thanks,

    Ben
  • Thanks Ben
This has been happening since 0.5 and is still an issue with 0.6.4
    I launch the game.
    I select New Game
The maps are shown. I can mouse over any map, and it shows more information. I can click the map and a sound plays. But that is it.. Nothing launches, I don't know if I am supposed to be seeing a "Play" button on the maps? Is clicking the map supposed to launch it?
Nothing I do seems to get the new game started.
  • I get to this screen. The maps respond to the mouse hover.. the mouse pointer turns white momentarily as I click each map or it's black banner.. But nothing happens.

Did you try to completely remove the game and reinstall it? This way.

    Thank you Forgetaboutme!

    mjames, to elaborate on this potential solution is as follows;

Save your files (if you need 'em!)
Uninstall the game on Steam (it's okay to do that as long as you follow the next step)
After installing the game, go into your Steam directory and DELETE any Castle Story folder that may be leftover.
Now that Castle Story and all its files are completely gone, you can re-install the game as a fresh, clean install via Steam.

Hopefully that'll fix it. Let us know whether it does or not.
