Latest update ... no Bricktrons at beginning.

Hey. Was hoping that uhm ... someone could help me with this problem. I have Castle Story through Steam, it's been a fun game for me, but the latest update every time I try to load a map ... the map starts ... and no brick trons are available, there aren't even any crystals around (which make more brick trons) ... I've tested every map, I even uninstalled and reinstalled.
Please ... do the devs know of this problem? Nothing here on their own site but a few on steam forums, yet no solution. I'm tempted to torrent an earlier update to keep playing ... I miss this game o.o.
Any suggestions please?
