We need a system for trading resources
We need to find a way to allow players to trade their resources to their opposing team.
One scenario I can think of, is when a player has lost all of the trees, but have a surplus of other minerals that the other player is lacking, there must be a way for both players to agree to a temporary truce, and to share resources.
I proposed a system for trading resources where both players bring their workers, and only their workers, to a safe meeting place. From there, the workers can enable a trading window, and bargain for goods. The players can then trade their resources they brought along, and complete the transaction.
After the trade is complete, both players bring back their own workers, and the truce is over.
Note that, at the moment, both players can only bring their workers and drop their resources on the ground, before picking up the resources they wanted. They can bring as many workers as they can to speed things up, but it would be nice if the whole process is streamlined.
Is this viable?
NOTE:
Once this trade system is in, it will unlock more in-house rules to play Castle Story. For example, the game of Corporation, where a faction of 2 to 4 players each are left alone on their respective islands, with each of the islands holding one type of resources. It is up to all of the players to cooperate together by gathering the required resources, and trading them before the Corruptrons get to them.

Why? More options to allow custom game rules.
Uses for game genres: Diplomacy / Castle Risk / Turn-based Strategy, Tower Defense, actual real-time strategy games, etc.
Or instead of having one large structure in the middle of the map each player can build their own designated "trading post" from a pre-installed blueprint/game option! Once the "trading post" is completed then you could trade with other players who have a "treading post" built near their crystal.
After the "market place" or "trading post" is finished you can assign workers to deposit as many resources as you want into the buildings, maybe in a predetermined queue that is set from the building. Naturally the more workers on the queue the faster it'll be listed onto the game's marketplace. Once the queue is complete all of the resources will be listed in the game's market place and players can set blue crystal prices
Using blue crystals as currency will give the player an option between building a labor force/army or gaining more resources to rush a project. Also a player can earn blue crystals by selling off surpluses, also freeing up space for other resources. Also holding and mining from caves would be ever more important to passively earn a little more blue crystals. (side note: If a home crystal is too tough to capture then a resource war would be a way to go to slowly march towards your enemy)
"Trade deals" should also be an option in the market place if you want to give an ally much needed resources to fight off corruptrons or other players
And even though the game is 1 v 1 or 2 v2 and so on it'll be interesting to see how resources are managed in order to out do your opponent(s). Also any co-op game in invasion mode will be interesting because there will either be a mutual desire to make "trade deals" or a desire to drain out the other player's resources and let the corruptrons do the rest
