Rocks into stone not working

I have tried playing on both custom maps and on standard maps listed on single player, however once the stockpile of rocks gets to 80 rocks, it doesn't add any more, saying it is 'full'. There is no way to convert this into stone and it is extremely frustrating as you can't do anything! It works with logs so I don't know why the rocks aren't turning into stone, I've tried everything I can think of. If anything helps I am playing on an iMac. Thanks

    Are you sure your not mistaking Iron for dirt?
    Otherwise, check if it's selected to auto-convert or not.
